J.D.J

E to the G,
G to the L,
She races along subway lines
alive to the beat of the city's heart,
hurtling through underground tunnels,
lost in her rhythm and blues.
Hands restless,
eyes focused down,
she stands clear of the closing doors,
bathed in the incandescent light of the trains.
Yet against the motif of screeching steel sounds, and
the jostle of bodies in motion,
she finds a moment of respite and calm
in her temporary escape,
from the concrete and steel commotion.
